Is your child losing momentum in school? Are your kids having more and more difficulty balancing free time and educational priorities? It's that time of year. If your child is starting to slack off in school for some extra recreation, here are a few tips for how to handle it:
1.) Give your kids a few days to come up with a plan of their own for how they think they can responsibly balance work and free time. Coming up with their own plan can create more motivation, while allowing them to express autonomy, practice problem solving, and establish self-control.
2.) For a little guidance, offer suggestions that are reasonable, maintainable, and motivating, as needed. Be clear ahead of time about consequences for not following an established plan.
3.) Be sure that your kids are staying motivated by their plan. A little tweaking here and there may be necessary for them to remain productive. Too much work can be just as detrimental as too much play.
Because every child is different, Intu It helps kids discover their unique motivations, and guides them in creative solutions for challenging situations. Kids learn problem solving, responsibility, and appreciation while practicing the art of balancing their priorities. :)
