Think of someone or something that makes you feel strongly upset. If you had a button in front of you that made you feel wonderful about this someone or something, would you press it?
You might like to think that you'd say yes, but studies show that only about 1.5% of people would really press it.
Oftentimes, people seek counseling only to find out that they are, in fact, not ready to give up what they complain about.
The truth is, not everyone is ready to change. Negative situations, people, confusion, bad habits, and behavior patterns teach and help us grow. They all serve a purpose, and may stay for a little or a long while in our lives until that purpose is served. So, don't rush it away. Don't ignore it. Lean into it. Look at it in the face. What are you learning? How is this serving you?
Intu It helps parents and kids identify the dysfunction they are attached to, and explore and challenge its purpose. Parents and kids learn how to change dysfunction into healthier behaviors for a more harmonious lifestyle. :)
